Political Campaign
Scenario
Most campaigns are managed by a General Consultant (GC) or Campaign Manager. The GC manages the campaign’s overall strategic direction and the various critical elements necessary to run a campaign; the media, marketing, ground activities, digital, fundraising, crisis management, brand protection, legal and polling.
Suasion has significant experience at the GC level, however, one of our dynamic capabilities is to perform a specialist digital role within an existing campaign infrastructure.
Here are a number of scenarios:
Green Field: This is where a GC delegates the digital component of the campaign to Suasion and we integrate with the existing team.
Problem Solving: In tight races when the factors contributing to success or failure are fine, we are brought in to bring an additional specialist perspective or to increase and deepen the existing digital capacity to get the client across the line.
Substitute: This is where the existing offering is not working and we are brought in to restart the digital campaign. Often in a campaign, the events of the campaign are all consuming and there is a tendency to avoid internal disruption. Avoiding taking necessary decisions early in a campaign can be counterproductive. Suasion has the capacity to rapidly integrate and ensure a smooth transition with minimal disruption.
Special Issues: In every campaign, issues arise that were unanticipated. In some situations, special issues arise which resonate with a significant number of voters in the target audiences. Treating these special issues like the other issues to emerge in a campaign is a mistake. The most effective way of maximizing the potential of these situations is to have another dedicated digital team focus solely on the special issue. Defence Scenario
One of our Middle Eastern clients, in the middle of a significant military conflict, needed to engage the US administration and various stakeholders in person, to detail the issues they faced on the ground both from a political and military standpoint. In addition, they wanted to engage the US administration in a conversation about a new policy initiative.
Our team were able to manage Engagement Events with the US State Department, Department of Defense, Intelligence Community, Statecraft Education Institutions, Members of Congress and significant NGOs. We prepared the Briefing Documents for each entity, wrote and designed the Presentations, looked after the individual scheduling arrangements, including on the ground logistics such as transport and security, accommodation and post event briefings as well as managing the optics of each Engagement Event via our Social Media desk. In addition we provided the training in communication skills for the delegation.
